Days of Thanks #1 - November 1, 2012

I had a lovely, long chat with my mother this morning discussing upcoming Thanksgiving plans.  The Lord willing, we are planning to spend Thanksgiving with my family in a different state.  This will be the first time that we have done this in many, many years and I am so excited.  Somehow during the discussion I remembered that last November, I posted a new "thankful" post nearly every day during the month.

Guess what, I am going to try it again this year.  I encourage you to leave a comment each day telling me what you are thankful for that day.  Though most of my posts will likely be serious in nature, there may also be some that will tickle your funny bone.  You just never know what there is to be thankful for on any given day.  Let's flood my blog with thankfulness, shall we?

I thought today I would kick things off by going back to the little things that I have been reminding you about.   I have so much to be thankful for and some of them are "really big".  I find in my life however that I often forget to look for the little things that God brings me.  Things like the candy bar waiting from my husband, dinner cooked by the kids, the patient who takes the time to say thank you, the giggle of a baby...

It never ceases to amaze me that the great God who holds the universe in the palm of His hand has time to show me in little ways that He loves me and cares for me.  WOW!  Not only has He given me life and eternal life, He also encouraged someone to smile when I needed it most.

So how about you?  Do you remember to be thankful for the little things?  Do you take time to enjoy them?  Have you thanked God for them today?

I would love to hear what "little thing" you're thankful for today.  Would you care to share?

thanks for the reminder to be thankful. Today I am thankful that my daughter's croup didn't keep her awake last night like it did the night before. She was able to get a good nights rest even though I wasn't able to.
