Fall Slimline Bonus Card

Image
This may be the longest time that I've ever gone without posting a video or any other content.  You would have thought that being home more with the pandemic, I would have spent lots of time crafting and posting.  I have actually remained quite busy at work since I'm working in a hospital.  That doesn't mean that I haven't had time to create though.  In fact, I have created a few videos which are available on my YouTube channel.  Be sure to check those out here .  I have posted the most on Instagram and even found time to post some on Facebook .  Be sure to click on the links and follow me on all the platforms to keep up with all the different content. I have also spent some time watching the Tim Holtz Demo videos.  Did you see them?  Weren't they great?  I learned so much from them that inspired me to get out supplies left long untouched and create.  Of course I found lots of things that I "needed" to add to my collection too....

2019 Christmas Tag #3 & A Giveaway

Image
There are a few things that are a "must" at Christmas time and one of those things for me is the candy cane.  When my children were little,we would read The Legend of the Candy Cane at Christmas time.  It was one of 3 books that I loved to read every Christmas.  The book talks about the Candy Cane being a reminder of Jesus and of His death for you and me. Friend, do you know Jesus?  I hope you do. If you don't, reach out to me and I will be happy to share the Good News of Jesus and how He was born as a baby so that He could die for your sins and mine.  Wow!  How awesome is that? On this tag, I used a stencil and distress ink to form the candy cane background and a tiny Close to my Heart stamp for the tree.  I used Prisma colored pencils and gamsol to color in the tree. Supplies: CTMH White Daisy card stock CTMH gold glitter pen CTMH black ink CTMH mini Christmas tree stamp Festive Berries Distress Ink Tags, Bags, Boxes and ...

2018 Reading List

Image
I love to read.  Unfortunately, I don't spend nearly enough time doing so at this stage of my life.  However, when I was recently sick for a few days, I spent some time reading.  I also spent some time journaling and working on my insert. Hmmm..... journaling, reading and decorating.  What else could I do but...  Of course I needed a few supplies.  For that I grabbed my Rusty Hinge Distress Crayon, the lettering stencil from Hero Arts, some stickers from the Reset Girl and my 01 and 05 Micron pens. I also grabbed some Dr. Seuss quotes to add to the bottom.  I am definitely not on track for my reading goals so I guess I need to play catch up.  I have to say that this layout is the perfect place for me to keep track of where I am. Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things.

TN Insert Cover Decorating

Image
Front Cover As promised in the last post, I have my decorated insert for my current journal.  You may notice that there is a lot of empty space and that's just fine with me.  I may find I love it and just leave it.  However, I may also decide that I need to fill some of that space as I fill the insert with my words. For the covers, I pulled out the Tim Holtz Distress Crayons #5 set.  I then went to work scribbling on lines - both straight and circles.  I then took a baby wipe and softened it to create a watercolor effect.  This was all done using the watercolor paper from Close To My Heart. I then started playing the stencil from the Tim Holtz mixed media spray kit and layered pattern onto the the front cover.  This too was done with the Distress Crayons and baby wipes.  Then it was time for the details which were created with simple Micron pens in sizes 01 and 05 and the Hero Arts number/letter stencil set that I have. Near the...

Sunday In The Word: What Is The Cost?

Image
Last Sunday I didn't feel well and neither did Daniel.  We decided to spend the day at home so found a Livestream service of a church in Greenville, SC.  Dr. Tim Kesee was speaking on missions and it was such a blessing to me.  I chose to journal the passage he preached from as a reminder of the cost of following Christ.  The passage I chose to journal was Matthew 16:24-26. What about you?  Are you afraid of the cost of following Christ completely?  I know that in Christ alone, I can follow Him without fear of the future. Items used: Coloring page found here (to trace) Distress Crayons Micron black pens Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things.

I recently went on a camping trip and decided to take my Distress Inks and watercolors along.  I found this amazing technique while watching Jennifer McGuire ( here ) and knew that I wanted to try it.  I still haven't done the full technique, but I really like the way this card turned out with the "partial" technique.  Before we get into the card though, here's some news you might want to know>>> August Special There are a few Close To My Heart Specials this month.  To see all of the specials click here .  However, I am also running a personal special.  Anyone who purchases $100 between now and August 3, 2015 from my Close To My Heart site, will receive one of the brand new paper packs absolutely free.  Here's how it will work: Click HERE to enter the site. CAS Butterfly Card

Image
I recently learned a new technique by watching AKCaraboo on YouTube which you can see here .  I love it and will be trying more.  I may even do a technique video showing it to you as well.  After I did my own stencil printing, I had a project to create that you will see soon.  There was a scrap of paper left over that I decided to use to make these pretty little cards.  Since I was using stuff that was left over from another project, these little beauties took only a few minutes to create and I love them. I used: Stencil printed paper (made with Strathmore cold press watercolor paper, Heidi Swap Stencil, Distress inks in Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry, and Salted Ocean ) Paper Trey Ink Kraft Cardstock Sakura Jelly Roll White pen Tombow glue pen and Xyron 250 Simon Says Stamp - Butterfly Drift Dye and Butterflies coordinating stamp set Hot pink and teal paper scraps 1/2" Corner Chomper from We Are Memory Keepers     Thanks for ...

Watercolor Mini Cards of Encouragement #1

Image
One of the current swaps at Art & Sassy is mini cards.  The rules are that the cards must be about 2 1/2" square, have 4 different sentiments and that you need to make 2 sets.  I thought this sounded like a lot of fun, so I decided to join. It's not too late if you would like to join the fun.  Just click here . My inspiration came from a watercolor class called "Watercolors for Cardmakers" that I recently took from onlinecardclasses.com.  I highly recommend the classes from here.  This is the second one that I have taken and I have learned so much. Calm #4 Mixed Media Tags - Watercolor

Image
I have recently discovered that I like playing with watercolors.  It is fun and challenging.  I have so much to learn and am actually taking a couple of classes in using them.  This month's tag swap at Art and Sassy uses watercolors, so I was excited to get started.  Of course, lots of 3 Girl JAM goodies were the perfect compliment for all the watercolors. Summer sprinkles and gorgeous 3GJ lace were perfect for this first tag.  Other supplies will be listed below. This tag was also made with gorgeous 3 Girl JAM lace , but the bold, bright colors called for bold ribbon colors, so I used Cherry Lipstick and Sunflower. This final tag was made with more lace coupled with the Spooky bundle.  The muted colors remind me of a flower peering through a storm. Other supplies: Strathmore watercolor paper Fancy Pants "Lavender Leaves" paper Tim Holtz Cargo Stencil Studio Calico Huey's Mask Art Philosophy Tag #3 cut at 6.25" Ar...

Distress Watercolor Thank You Note

Image
Good morning everyone.  I have so many things to make right now that I spent some time recently crafting like mad.  I really needed to make some thank you notes and one of them had to be for a man.  There are so many fun things that you can do with Distress Inks and I have been really inspired watching Kristina Werner.  You can check out the video where I received my inspiration here .  It is pretty easy to come up with your own backgrounds by just taking a few simple steps. I also wanted to join in on the current 3 Girl JAM challenge - Yellow, Orange, and Green with Ribbon.  Doesn't that sound like a good challenge.  I knew that the 3GJ Thank You flair and the Harvest Orange would be perfect for this fun card.  You can order your own by clicking on the links within the names of the products.  Don't forget to use the code "CP10" for a discount on any 3 Girl JAM order. Green and Yellow Encouragement Card and Notebook

Image
Do you know what time it is?  It's time for a brand new Challenge on the 3 Girl JAM Challenge blog and we really hope you will play along.  March is one of my favorite months of the year.  It is the month of both of my children's births as well as mine.  It is also the month where I feel like new beginnings are starting after the long, cold months of winter.  This month's challenge celebrates that by encouraging you to use gorgeous colors - yellow, green, and orange.  Does anything celebrate the beginning of new life better than a daffodil as it peeks it's yellow head bravely through the snow?  How about those first sprigs of green grass or orange wildflowers?  You can choose any combination of the 3 colors and add some ribbon for this challenge. For my projects I used green and yellow.  Goblin Green and Sunflower 3 Girl JAM ribbon worked perfectly to make them really pop.  If you would like some of your own ribbon, click on the...
