2018 Reading List

Image
I love to read.  Unfortunately, I don't spend nearly enough time doing so at this stage of my life.  However, when I was recently sick for a few days, I spent some time reading.  I also spent some time journaling and working on my insert. Hmmm..... journaling, reading and decorating.  What else could I do but...  Of course I needed a few supplies.  For that I grabbed my Rusty Hinge Distress Crayon, the lettering stencil from Hero Arts, some stickers from the Reset Girl and my 01 and 05 Micron pens. I also grabbed some Dr. Seuss quotes to add to the bottom.  I am definitely not on track for my reading goals so I guess I need to play catch up.  I have to say that this layout is the perfect place for me to keep track of where I am. Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things.

TN Insert Cover Decorating

Image
Front Cover As promised in the last post, I have my decorated insert for my current journal.  You may notice that there is a lot of empty space and that's just fine with me.  I may find I love it and just leave it.  However, I may also decide that I need to fill some of that space as I fill the insert with my words. For the covers, I pulled out the Tim Holtz Distress Crayons #5 set.  I then went to work scribbling on lines - both straight and circles.  I then took a baby wipe and softened it to create a watercolor effect.  This was all done using the watercolor paper from Close To My Heart. I then started playing the stencil from the Tim Holtz mixed media spray kit and layered pattern onto the the front cover.  This too was done with the Distress Crayons and baby wipes.  Then it was time for the details which were created with simple Micron pens in sizes 01 and 05 and the Hero Arts number/letter stencil set that I have. Near the...

More Sketch Inspired Cards

Image
I finally made it to my crafty space for a little while the other night.  I didn't have a lot of time, but I wanted to get a few cards done.  Once again, I pulled out the OWH sketches and chose B-21.  You can find these fabulous sketches by clicking here . I know I've said it in the past, but I want to say again, how easy it is to make cards using sketches.  If you look at the original sketch, you will see that I changed things up a bit on some of the cards to make the sketch work for me.  I think that I made all 4 cards in about an hour and that is with filming the video.  You could really push out a lot of cards if you chose coordinating 12X12 papers went to work. I used paper and embellishments from Basic Grey's "Life of the Party" for the two cards shown above.  Basic Grey's "Shine On" paper with "Shine On and Serendipity" embellishments were used on the two below. The sentiments were stamped using Hero Arts "All Occ...

I was going through a small stash of cards that I have and I found some cards that I made back in May.  You can find out all about them by clicking here .  Though they are square and smaller than an A2 sized card, I think they are cute.  More importantly, they provided the perfect inspiration for today's cards.  I made 5 cards and they went together very quickly. Crafty Fun with Aunt Cheri - Let's Make Cards

Image
I couldn't do a whole series and not focus at least one week on cards could I?  Nope.  Today's cards were made from cards that I purchased years ago from HSN or QVC.  They were made by Hot Off the Press and are a great way for beginner cardmakers to start.  I used the the "Blessings to You" and "You're Always in my Heart" stamp sets from Hero Arts.  I added a bit of scrap paper and an old Valentine and we had a couple of simple cards.  Perfect to make with little hands. Here's a video that I hope you enjoy. Have a great day and remember to take some time to enjoy the little things.

Crafty Fun Watercoloring

Image
Good Morning!  I trust you are having a great day.  Today's Crafty Fun with Aunt Cheri was from an idea I found on Pinterest.  You can see the original post by clicking here . Of course, there was some modifying from the original pin because I am doing this with my little (and not-so-little) people. I started by cutting some 9X12 Canson watercolor paper to run through my printer.  I then found these cute images online.  You can find them by clicking here and here . Other items used: Crayola watercolors White textured card stock from The Paper Studio Designer paper from the 6X12 pad "Tags. Bags, Boxes, and More" by Provo Craft Yellow ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon After the video was over, I decided to use some of my favorite toys to make this a bit more grown up.  Even though the image is super simple, it made a charming little card.  I pulled the second image that I made for the little people and the following items: Distress...

Paper Saving Masculine Birthday Cards

Image
Today I have a fun project to share with you.  I actually made these after I made some similar ones for women.  You will see them in a future post.  I did not make these following a sketch.  It was just a concept that I had in my head where I was trying to make a bunch of birthday cards quickly while using my 6X6 paper to the best advantage. I used the following products: Basic Grey - Shine On 6X6 pad Georgia Pacific - white cardstock Vintage Photo Distress Ink Memento Tuxedo Black ink Cuttlebug Happy Birthday embossing folder Hero Arts - All Occasion Messages I only used 5 full 6X6 sheets of decorative paper, 5-6 sheets of GP card stock, and some scraps to make 8 cards.  Not bad! Check back soon for a video tutorial where I show you how I made 4 feminine cards using similar techniques.  I think you will be glad that you did. Thanks so much for stopping by.  In the meantime, remember to take some time to enjoy t...

Graduation Cards for the Men in Your Life

Image
Good morning everyone.  I believe that I mentioned that the next little while was going to be pretty post heavy.  I wasn't kidding.  There has been a lot to post lately.  I've needed to spend lots of time in the craft area to get these projects done.  There are more to come so hang in there.  The card that I'm showing you today is for the men in your life.  Though it was designed to be a graduation card, you could easily use it as a card of encouragement for someone by simply modifying the inside. I made two variations of this card today by simply changing the paper.  I needed 3 cards and each piece of paper made 2, so I decided to make an extra just in case I forgot someone.  Here's what I used to get started: 3 Girl JAM - Cream crinkle ribbon from the Coffee bundle DCWV - Safari Chic 12X12 paper pad (2 sheets) Bazill - Green 12X12 paper and a piece of 12X12 brown paper from my stash Paper Trey Ink - Vintage Cream card stock (1 pie...

Grid Birthday Cards

Hello friends.  I trust you are having a good day.  After a bit of down time, I actually have a crafty post for you today.  Look for more to come.  I have counted the cards that I need to make to get caught up and I need 12 more birthday cards to catch me up to June 1st.  I also have 3 wedding cards and an unknown number of graduation cards and thank you notes to make. I used a sketch from Operation Write Home which can be found here .  I also used the following supplies: Hero Arts - Blessings to You stamp set My Mind's Eye - Fine and Dandy Paper pack Basic Grey Bloomers - Wander collection Memento Tuxedo Black Ink Coordinations "Krafty" cardstock Stampendous - Happy Messages stamp set If you are interested in the measurements and a quick tutorial, check out the video. Simple Sketch Inspired Cards

Image
Today I wanted to show you 3 of the simplest cards I've made in a long time.  They were styled after another Operation Write Home sketch that you can find here .  These sketches are really helping me get caught up right now and I'm so thankful for them.  Remember that using a sketch doesn't take away your own creativity or flair.  A sketch is just a springboard to jump to your own ideas. The first card I made was from the Basic Grey "Life of the Party" 6X6 pad and Element stickers.  The blue card base was something I found in my stash.  I think this will be a perfect male or kid birthday card, don't you? I decided to take a border from the Element sticker sheet to finish off the inside.  Hero Art's "All Occasion Messages" had the perfect little happy birthday sentiment to finish it off with Archival "Jet Black" ink. The second card is definitely for a lady.  I pulled out the "So Sophie" 6X6 pad, Basic Grey "...
