Seeing Brooke

The following is being copied from my sister-in-law's Facebook post yesterday: We saw Brooke last night. I cried of course and she sniffled a bit lol. She saw Tommy first and yelled "Dad? Dad!!!" and hugged him. Cody and I were down playing with a silly group of 3 and 4 year old boys and girls so he brought Brooke to us. We hung out for a bit and asked if we could take her. They said we have to talk to the social worker today. Then we asked if we could take her to dinner and bring her back but they said they couldnt let her without permission. It brought tears to my eyes.  Please Pray.  They are so close, but so far and there are many obstacles.  God is faithful and will take care of them all.  I will be so happy to have my family back in the US again! To read read about Brooke's story, please click  here .  I have XXXX through the country's name to avoid trouble for them in bringing her home.  Let's just say it is very far away!

Getting Ready for the 12 Days of Christmas Tags Series

Starting tomorrow, I plan to be making Christmas tags for the next 12 days.  Now I will be making LOTS of tags over the next couple of weeks because that is this month's theme for my card exchange club as well.  This series is separate though.  To follow along with this series, look for the title: "12 Days of Christmas Tags - Day 1", etc.  I am hoping to be able to add a link button so that you can make your own version of tags and link them back each day.  If I am able to do this, there will be a giveaway at the end of the 12 days. So what's so special about this tag series?  This isn't your normal tag series.  I'm not trying to replicate Tim Holtz either (though I will be following along on his tags).  This series is about giving and will follow the theme "The 12 Days of Christmas" song.  This is something my family has done for several years and I will tell you the story about how it started on the first day. If you are playing along, you will

Back at it.... I hope

I feel like I have been MIA for awhile.  I think my family feels the same way.  The last 4 days were very long at work and I've been pretty swamped.  I'm really behind where I would like to be right now but hoping to catch up soon.  I have designed a baby announcement (for someone else - NOT ME!), and will post it once I have time to start actually making them.  There seems to be a minor glitch with my Imagine, and I haven't had time to figure it out yet but think its probably just time to get a new black cartridge.  At least I hope that's the problem!  I plan to start the 12 Days of Christmas Tags series tomorrow.  I hope I have time to pull that together.  Be checking back for these fun things.

Christmas Tags Giveaway - Winner

The winner of the set of Christmas Tags is rsp547 Please send me a message with your address and I'll get it sent to you in the next couple of weeks.  Thanks for playing along.  The series is planned to start of December 1.

Leftovers

Image
I think the best part of all the food on Thanksgiving is all of the leftovers.  In fact, I like the things I make from leftover turkey better than I like the original turkey.  I decided to post what I made for dinner tonight with leftover turkey.  Now I will warn you that I don't measure the ingredients.  I go by what looks right.  I will try to "guestimate" the amounts I used. Ingredients: Left over turkey or chicken - chopped (I'm guessing I used 5-6 cups) Sour Cream - large dollop (1/3 c?) Large can of green chili enchilada sauce 1 package of tortillas 1 package of shredded cheese - (I used the value pack that was about 9.5oz of the Mexican variety) Directions: Heat oven to 375.  Pour enough of the enchilada sauce into the bottom of a casserole dish to coat the bottom of the pan.  Mix the turkey, sour cream and a handful of cheese together.  Add enough of the enchilada sauce to moisten the mixture but you don't want it too wet or soupy.  Heat the torti

Black Friday

I started Black Friday shopping years ago and look forward to it every year.  There have been so many years that I have been able to find nice Christmas gifts that I could afford because I was willing to stand in line and wait for them.  Typically, I have someone buy a paper (or I go get one if I'm not cooking) and then late on Thanksgiving afternoon and evening, I peruse all the ads and decide what I'm willing to go looking for.  This year was a little different.  I perused all the ads and found a few things that looked interesting, but I really didn't feel like getting up early and driving to the city.  Instead, we ran to Walmart a little after midnight and then into the city to hit Best Buy and then home to bed.  Now before you think that I'm totally crazy, those are normal operating hours for me.  I'm usually up that late anyway due to my work schedule.  It was fun and I did get a few good deals. So how about you?  Do you join in on the Black Friday madness?

Days of Thanks - Thanksgiving Day

Happy Thanksgiving. I had a great day. I'm thankful for the time spent with family today. I know this post is really late, but it was a really busy day. Have a great day!

Days of Thanks - November 23 - #2

My heart is so full right now that I decided to share another thankful post.  I am thankful for my little brother.  Now I have 4 little brothers and 6 little sisters and I'm so very thankful for all of them.  I forget to tell them how much they all mean to me.  But tonight, there is a special reason that I am thankful for this little brother.  Tommy has one of the most giving, generous hearts that I know.  So big and giving in fact that he and his family have given up much to leave America on Saturday and go to another country to bring their daughter home. What's his daughter doing in another country you might ask?  Well several years ago, Tommy and Marian (oh yeah, she's his wife - lol), adopted a special young lady and brought her to America to be part of their family.  After living here for several months and before the adoption was finalized, the country she was from felt it would be in her best interest to return to her home country.  This was despite the fact that m

Days of Thanks - November 23

I am thankful that I have today off from work so that I can get ready for my guests.  I'm thankful that my nephew and his fiancee made it to his family, despite delays that left them spending the night in the airport. I am thankful for the Holy Spirit who convicts of sin that needs to be confessed.  I'm thankful for a God that sees the end of the problems that dear ones are going through and that He already has it worked out.  Right now my heart is so full with too much to share, but I am thankful. What are you thankful for today?

Thankful Giveaway

Next month I will be starting a series called "The 12 Days of Christmas Tags".  Now I know that there are other series following the "12 Days" of whatever on YouTube, but this one has a twist.  I'm not telling all my secrets yet but I would like to have a giveaway.  I will be giving away one set of these tags.  I had originally planned on starting the series earlier, but will not be able to start until sometime in December.  However, I want whoever wins these tags to have them early in the month.  Know what that means?  The person who wins these tags will get to see the WHOLE set before anyone else!  More information will follow so that you can play along with making tags.  I am hoping to be able to allow you to link your tags and show off the ones you make.  However, don't start early or you will completely miss the "twist". Now for the giveaway.  As you should know, I have been listing things that I am thankful for throughout the month of Novem

Days of Thanks - November 22

Today I am thankful for a country that was founded on principals of religious freedom. I am thankful that I am free to worship God publicly and free to openly tell others about my God. What are you thankful for today?

Days of Thanks - November 20

I haven't posted a Days of Thanks in a couple of days, but that doesn't mean I wasn't thankful. Daniel and I came home from our get-away on Friday. I am so thankful for the opportunity to spend a couple of days with my husband. I am thankful to the family who gave us the use of their timeshare for 2 days. Yesterday, we went into the city so that Daniel and Heath could spend some good father-son time. While they were doing that, I went shopping for groceries for Thanksgiving and our family. I am thankful for God's provision. He has given us so much! Today, I am thankful for the great day at church. We started with our normal Sunday School and AM Church service today. There was a special dinner after the AM service. Following the dinner, we watched the movie "Hometown Pride". It was very good. After getting home, I had a mailing to get ready for the mission office and bills to pay. I also made it through the entries in this week's Simply Sund

Hello everyone.  It's time for another Simply Sunday Challenge at Getting Cricky.  Click the picture below to see the challenge post.     Today's challenge is to do a project reflecting something you are thankful for.  I chose my family.  Please watch the Video below for a complete tutorial for this project. I chose to use 4 different  stamp sets from K. Andrew Designs.  Click on each picture below to look at these great stamps and to order.  Kristal does such a great job designing these stamps.  Plus a portion of the proceeds from each set is donated to charity.  They are made in America.     I hope you enjoy this project and video.  Thanks for watching.
