Do you have friends or loved ones going through a rough spot right now?  I do.  You don't have to look hard to see people who are hurting.  Crafting is a stress release for me.  I can get lost for hours creating something while forgetting about the day's frustrations and hurts.  Long ago, I learned that an hour or two spent in the craft room after a tough day in the ER helped me relax enough to get the rest I needed. While this is important for my own well being, I also need to look outside of myself or  I will quickly become self-centered.  This attitude does not honor Christ and it does not help those around me who are hurting.  It is amazing that when you open your eyes and use your skills to help those around you you, how much your own emotional and spiritual well being is blessed. Today I have a fun project to share with you.  I actually made these after I made some similar ones for women.  You will see them in a future post.  I did not make these following a sketch.  It was just a concept that I had in my head where I was trying to make a bunch of birthday cards quickly while using my 6X6 paper to the best advantage. I trust this finds you all well.  I wanted to share this card with you.  I love the old fashioned feel of this one.  I used Distress Ink (Faded Jeans, Walnut Stain, Black Soot), the Heartfelt stamp set, distress paper, tickets, and a philosophy tag from Tim Holtz.  I used "All in the Family" by K. Andrew Designs, a doily sprayed in yellow shimmer spray, and lace from my stash to help complete the look. Today's project is one that I made for a special young lady who will soon be getting married.  Our little church is hosting a shower for her next week and we wanted her to have special invitations for it. I know it's been awhile since I posted a card, but I finally felt well enough to spend a little time in the craft room.  This card is for my Card Exchange Club and I think its gorgeous! I used the "It's Valentines" stamp set from K. Andrew Designs.   Now on to the video.  One thing that I forgot to mention on the video is that I used "Dusty Concord" distress ink from Tim Holtz to ink around the edges of the inside mat before adhering it to the base.  Also in the video, I discuss a lesson I learned about my homemade glitter sprays.  You DON'T want to miss this if you plan on making your own glitter spray sometime! This is the card that I made for this month's Card Exchange Club.  The theme was kids birthdays.  I chose the color scheme based on an old paper pad of printed paper from Provo Craft.  I then used paper from the Recollections Soda Pop collection to coordinate.  White, brown, red, and black card stock were pulled from my stash to complete the card.  I used glitter glue from Studio G to add some extra interest to the cherry and the D'Vine Swirls Cuttlebug folder to frost the cupcake.  The cupcake was cut from the Create-a-Critter Cricut cartridge. Today (7/31) is my mother-in-law's birthday.  I took her to the city the other day and we had a nice lunch at Red Lobster.  I then took her shopping at one of her favorite stores as she can't always make it to that store.  It was a nice day.  Tonight, we will get together with all of the family who is in town.  That's when I will give her present and card to her.  I thought I would make a card using "latte" in it as we both like our lattes.  However, as I was looking for the latte cup on my Imagine More Cards cartridge, I found the "You Take the Cake" image and decided to go with that instead.  I have discovered that I really like pink and brown when they are used together, so I decided to focus on those colors on the image and make this simple, but pretty card.  I wanted to make a 4"X4" card so I also ended up making my own envelope, but more on that later.  I mistakenly deleted the video, so this time you will just get the recipe....

I tried two times to get a good video of these cards, but they were just too blurry.  It was time for an alternate plan, so here it is.  My friend and co-worker Crystal, recently began a card exchange club.  We each make 8 cards once a month and then we exchange them.  July's theme was "female birthday".  It was so much fun and the first time I have participated in something like this.  The ladies who participated are so talented and it is a privilege to be involved.  I will post a tutorial with my card, but I wanted to show you the cards made by the other ladies.
