Calm #4 Mixed Media Tags - Watercolor

Image
I have recently discovered that I like playing with watercolors.  It is fun and challenging.  I have so much to learn and am actually taking a couple of classes in using them.  This month's tag swap at Art and Sassy uses watercolors, so I was excited to get started.  Of course, lots of 3 Girl JAM goodies were the perfect compliment for all the watercolors. Summer sprinkles and gorgeous 3GJ lace were perfect for this first tag.  Other supplies will be listed below. This tag was also made with gorgeous 3 Girl JAM lace , but the bold, bright colors called for bold ribbon colors, so I used Cherry Lipstick and Sunflower. This final tag was made with more lace coupled with the Spooky bundle.  The muted colors remind me of a flower peering through a storm. Other supplies: Strathmore watercolor paper Fancy Pants "Lavender Leaves" paper Tim Holtz Cargo Stencil Studio Calico Huey's Mask Art Philosophy Tag #3 cut at 6.25" Ar...

Thanksgiving Organization - Without a Filofax

Image
Can you ever have too many organizers?  Probably, but I don't think I have gone that far yet.  When I was thinking about the things that I needed to do for Thanksgiving, I was debating on the best way to start my lists.  I thought about using my Filofax or Day Planner but then I decided that I want to keep track of our Thanksgiving celebrations for years to come.  This way I will be able to keep all my Thanksgiving recipes in one place.  I can also see the place cards that I make so that I don't risk repeating them.  Since I'm getting old and forgetful, I can also keep special memories listed in there.  There's no way that I'm buying a new Filofax for this so it was time to pull out a trusty ole' composition book. I used the following products: Zig Pure Brown, Pure Orange,  and Wheat pens HOTP Fall paper and other Fall paper from my stash Paper Trey ink - Vintage cream cardstock Tim Holtz Holiday Paper Stash, Gathered Twigs and Ripe Persi...

Valentine Treat Bags - 14 Days of Valentines

Image
I am so sorry that this is posting so late.  I've not been moving well (or quickly) today.  Tomorrow's post will be a bit late as well.  Hopefully not this late though. I have a special Valentines treat bag to share with you today.  I have some special "little people" these were designed to delight.  I used some "leftovers" to create the design on the bags. I used the paper that was left when all the hearts were cut out for the "10 Ways to Love" post found here .  The heart tags were the centers of the large hearts from the same post.  Isn't this a great way to use up supplies?  3 Girl JAM "cherry lipstick" ribbon makes a beautiful bag closer and holds the tags in place.  I sprayed the bags with Candy Apple Red and Cherub Pink sprays from Tattered Angels.  The tops of the bags were cut with a scalloped border punch by Fiskars.  Now I just need to fill these up with some special treats. I am going to be linking this up t...

Altered Envelope

Image
Hello everyone.  I am so happy to be sharing my very first 3 Girl Jam Design Team post with you today.  I needed to make some altered envelopes for a swap over at CraftHappens.net.  I decided to use my favorite 3 Girl Jam ribbon - Witch's Brew - at the same time.  Now I have to admit that I used a lot of products on this one, but don't be intimidated.  Use what you have.  I didn't buy anything special for this project.  I went through my stash and used what I had.  Isn't that a great way to plan a project?  I thought so too.  However, if you don't have any 3 Girl Jam ribbon, you can try it by going to www.3girljam.com Front of the Envelope Here's what I used: 3 Girl Jam ribbon - Witch's Brew Prima - flowers and bling Tim Holtz Distress ink - Antique Linen, Tea Die Tim Holtz stamps - Playful Journey Homemade glitter spray - Perfect Pearls and Metallic Purple Ranger Archival ink - black Tim Holtz word bands Nestabilities - L...

Baby Boy Altered Bag

Image
I must admit that I have been busier crafting lately than what it appears when looking at DJ's Sundries.  Please be patient.  I have a post scheduled for later in the week that will be my first official 3 Girl Jam Design Team post.  I am so happy with that project and how it turned out.  I think you will like it as well.  I am also working on another ATC posting.  These are far more elaborate than the others that I have posted and are taking me a little time to get finished.  They will be worth the wait though.  Thanks for bearing with me on these.  Once again, I have a very busy work week ahead and then I hope it will slow down for a while. Our little church has a new baby!  It is always exciting to see the Lord bless a church with new little ones.  I wanted to make a special gift bag for this little guy as well as a second one for a co-workers new son.  Here's what I came up with: Recipe: Teresa Collins Baby Boutiq...

How Do I... Make and Use Glitter Mists?

Image
Ready for a blast from the past?  I am going to be reviving and updating some past posts and going to import them into the "How Do I?" segments.  Today is the first on of these oldies. Several months ago I posted a video showing you how to make Glitter Mists.  Before you watch the video, I want to change one thing.  In the video, I placed steel BB's inside to help mix the glitter and paint better.  DO NOT do this!  Even steel BB's rust and you have to discard it and start over (unless of course you're into that rusted look). So once I have these little beauties made, what do I do with them?  There are so many little things you can do with Glitter Mists: Splatter them in small amounts on cards and layouts to add sparkle to small areas Add larger amounts to add sparkle to a whole card or layout Change the color of an embellishment (like a flower) What would you do with Glitter Mists?  There are so many things that I bet you could add, ...

Wedding Card

Image
I know it's been awhile since I posted a card, but I finally felt well enough to spend a little time in the craft room.  This card is for my Card Exchange Club and I think its gorgeous! I used the "It's Valentines" stamp set from K. Andrew Designs.   Now on to the video.  One thing that I forgot to mention on the video is that I used "Dusty Concord" distress ink from Tim Holtz to ink around the edges of the inside mat before adhering it to the base.  Also in the video, I discuss a lesson I learned about my homemade glitter sprays.  You DON'T want to miss this if you plan on making your own glitter spray sometime! Finally, I am linking this project to the ODBD Challenge at the Operation Write Home blog. You can find this by clicking here .  I stumbled across this organization a month or two before Christmas.  Volunteers make cards to send to service men and women that they can send back to their families and loved ones.  It is a s...

Orange & Black "Great Day" Card

Image
This card was created for the Super Sunday Challenge at GettingCricky.com.  The rules were that you had to use orange and black and you could include one other color.  I chose to keep it to the 2 colors only.  This was a fun card that I created "on the fly".  Watch the video below to find out how I created the background for the front of the card. The sentiment on the inside of the card was stamped using "Coffee & Tea for You & Me" by K. Andrew Designs.  Find out how I achieved the shimmery effect on the sentiment by watching the video. Thanks for stopping by today.  I think I may just do some other cards with these techniques.  Hmm...

In this video, I show 2 tags that were made using different techniques.  Distress Ink is used on both tags as well as stamps from K. Andrew designs.  On one of the tags, homemade glitter mist is added to a Prima flower to add a beautiful shimmer to the finished tag.  Thanks for watching and check back soon for more projects.
