New Release Blog Hop - Altered Canvas

Image
Welcome to the new release blog hop at 3 Girl JAM.  I am so happy to be sharing these new colors today.  If you hopped over from Carri, you are in the right spot.  If you just happened on to my blog today, be sure to head over to see Julie's post here . Now on to my project for today.  I decided that I wanted to alter a canvas.  Though this is not the first canvas that I have altered, it is unlike anything that I have attempted.  I must say that it was quite enjoyable to make and wasn't difficult at all.  My favorite color of all of the new colors is without a doubt Purple Passion.  I decided that I would keep this project for myself. Besides Purple Passion, I also used a lot of other supplies: Canvas board Faber Castell Gelatos Prima - Mixed Media Doll by Julie Nutting Tim Holtz - Black Soot Distress Ink, Old Paper and Dusty Concord Distress Markers, Heartfelt stamp set, Milled Lavender Distress Stickles Studio G - glitter glue Zig Pure Brown marker Ranger J

Thankful Beyond Measure

Image
I trust you are having a great Thursday.  I'm so happy to be with you today.  Do you ever have those times when you just want to let someone know that you are thankful for them?  I know I do.  Recently a co-worker asked me if I had an extra thank you card for just such a person and I knew that I needed to make one that was extra special.  Needing room for multiple people to sign and leave a message, I decided that I would make a 5X7 card.  I grabbed some paper, some embellishments, and a few other items and went to work.  Of course any special card is made more special with 3 Girl JAM ribbon so I also grabbed some Witch's Brew and Antique White . Now I must tell you that there is a NEW COLOR of 3 Girl JAM ribbon that will be coming soon that would have been even more perfect for this card.  I admit that I seriously considered sneaking it in here, but I behaved.  Curious?  You will all have to wait just a few more days.  Let me tell you, it will be worth the wait. Of cou

Reflections on Heaven

Heaven has been on my mind a lot lately.  As I sit here typing, I am surrounded by the sounds of my mother-in-law's gentle snoring and this song playing on Abiding Radio: "Just think of stepping on shore and finding it heaven, Of touching a hand and finding it God's. Of breathing new air and finding it celestial Of waking up in Glory and finding it Home." Why has it been on my mind so much?  Because very soon my dear one will be doing just as the words in this song say.  It's been more than 2 months since she had the stroke that we thought would take her Home.  When that didn't happen, we worked to help her regain as much function as possible.  The skilled nursing facility wasn't for her and she was taken home after little more than a week.  Despite trying, she just hasn't been able to get stronger.  Her body is growing weaker and communication is getting more difficult.  Her once strong heart now beats so rapidly that it will not be able t

Simple Sketch Inspired Cards

Image
Today I wanted to show you 3 of the simplest cards I've made in a long time.  They were styled after another Operation Write Home sketch that you can find here .  These sketches are really helping me get caught up right now and I'm so thankful for them.  Remember that using a sketch doesn't take away your own creativity or flair.  A sketch is just a springboard to jump to your own ideas. The first card I made was from the Basic Grey "Life of the Party" 6X6 pad and Element stickers.  The blue card base was something I found in my stash.  I think this will be a perfect male or kid birthday card, don't you? I decided to take a border from the Element sticker sheet to finish off the inside.  Hero Art's "All Occasion Messages" had the perfect little happy birthday sentiment to finish it off with Archival "Jet Black" ink. The second card is definitely for a lady.  I pulled out the "So Sophie" 6X6 pad, Basic Grey "

Birdie Birthday

How many nursery rhymes pop into your head when you think of rain?  Undoubtedly a few.  Today's 3 Girl JAM challenge is all about April Showers.  The Cricut "Imagine More" cartridge had the perfect image for the theme so I decided to use it to get started.  3 Girl JAM Red crinkle ribbon from the Red, White, and Blue pack was the perfect accent for this card.  Unfortunately, this color is not currently available, but there are other reds available and some new colors are coming soon. Other supplies: Echo Park  - Dots and Stripes 6X6 pad Spellbinders - Labels #5 Archival Black ink Adhesive Glossy Accents Red Stickles Stampendous - "Happy Messages" stamp set K. Andrew Designs - "Splashtastic Summer" stamp set 3 Girl JAM Bowmaker (found here ) In the video, I not only walk you through the card, but I also show you how I made the pretty little bow with the 3 Girl JAM bowmaker.  It is so simple to use and fun too. So come and play a

It's A Boy Baby Card

Image
Good Morning!  I trust you are having a great day.  I have been quite busy, cleaning up the craft area trying to have a neater space to work in.  The card I have for you today was actually designed quite awhile ago in the Cricut Craft Room.  However, I was not able to get it to cut.  It would only print.  After multiple attempts, I decided to just print it and to hand cut it.  I'm going to need to call customer service to try to figure out what is going on. Here's what I used: "Nursery Tails" Cricut Imagine cartridge Georgia Pacific white cardstock Icicle Stickles "Goblin Green" crinkle ribbon from 3 Girl JAM Foam adhesive 3 Girl JAM bowmaker Close To My Heart - Indian Corn Blue ink Inkadinkadoo - "Welcome Baby" stamp set (for the inside of the card - please see the video) How about a video to show you how I made this? Did you know that the current 3 Girl JAM challenge is "Pastel Colors with Ribbon"?  I think this will

Club SEI and Project Life

Image
As mentioned in the second video of my last post ( here ), I recently attended an event and was able to pick up quite a few fun new items.  Rather than making one verrry long video to share my haul, I have decided to break it up a bit.  In this video, I show you my first kit from Club SEI.  The reasons that I decided to try this particular card club are discussed and I show you the goodies in the March kit.  I also show you the Project Life kit that I picked up on a great special on HSN. Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Be on the lookout for some great projects using these things.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things today.
