Gift Bags

Image
September 30 is the last day to enter my giveaway.  Click here to find out how to enter. As mentioned in my last post, I had a great time paper crafting with my friend Pamela last Saturday.  These bags are not related (though they did go to 2 members of the same family), but I decided to post them together.  How many bags can one person see anyway? The first bag held a little treat for my friend Kathy.  It coordinates perfectly with the card that I made for her and posted earlier.  I used the same papers.  (BTW - I found out that the swirly teal paper was from My Little Shoebox). I started with the same papers used on the card.  I then added a black doily and a white one from the Owl and Thistle Etsy shop.  More Prima "Say it with pearls" bling added a special touch.  I then used the dress form stamp from the My Mind's Eye Lost and Found 2 "Blush" stamp set and stamped it in Ranger Archival black ink on PTI Vintage Cream card stock....

ATC Library Drawer

Image
For my current giveaway click:  Take Time to Enjoy the Little Things Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I am so excited to show you this project.  Why?  Because I waited for this ATC drawer for quite awhile.  It is made by 7 Gypsies and is beautiful.  In fact, if I hadn't seen a picture of the one altered on the cover, I would have left it plain.  Yes, it's that pretty.  However, once I saw how pretty the altered box on the package was, I knew I had to grab some 3 Girl Jam ribbon and get to work! I used the following products: 7 Gypsies ATC Library Drawer 3 Girl Jam Crinkle Ribbon - Witch's Brew K & Company paper - Scraps from my stash Prima - flowers and charm Here is a picture of the box with some of the ATC's I've made.  I can't wait to start filling it with other ATC's I receive.  For full details on how I altered this, please watch the video. Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today...

Cropped Event - Cheri's Challenge

Image
For my current giveaway, click  here. Here is my card for the 3rd challenge at the Cropped Event.   I'll come back later tonight and add all the details.  Check back soon. So the challenge was to use the color teal and 7 circles.  This was one I could do.  I headed to the Mystery Box from the Cropped Event and found this gorgeous swirl paper as well as the teal paper.  I can't remember the name of the swirl paper (and I'm 4 hours away from home), but I know that it is double sided and said something about "My Fair Lady" on the other side with cameos.  I grabbed my circle punches and believe that I used the 5/8", 1/2", 1", and 2" one to cut my circles.  I then grabbed my favorite card base card stock - Vintage Cream from PaperTrey Inc. and we were ready. Here's what all you need: 4 1/4" X 11" card base - Vintage Cream from PTI teal mats X2 - 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" teal swirly mats X2 - 4" X 5 1/4" My M...

I have an awesome little thing to share today.  I just heard the story "Ten Apples Up On Top".  Now before you call a crisis worker because you think I'm totally losing it, I should explain. This story was read to me by my great nephew who lives in another state.  He's in the first grade and he read this to me via Skype.  (I think this is only my second or third Skype conversation ever.)  Woo Hoo for technology that allows us to: Take time to enjoy the little things. I love you Rylan!

When Little Things Become Big

Image
For the current giveaway click : Take Time to Enjoy the Little Things I have to admit this has been a rough week.  Not only did we pass the 11th anniversary of 9-11, but were also reminded that evil abounds by the tragic death of 4 Americans.  Perhaps you have had other things that have discouraged you.  I know that I have.  I've been angry and I've been sad.  All I could do was cry out to God and I know He heard me.  Do you know that He hears you?  He wants to give you hope.  If you missed it, you can learn about that hope by clicking here . Sometimes I think we forget that God is not only great.  He also delights to remind us that He loves us.  Sometimes He shows that in big ways and others in the the little things.  That happened to me today.  I was discouraged and God sent me a gentle reminder of His love.  It was a little thing to Him and He used a very special lady.  How? Today I opened my mailbox and the...

Grateful for All You Do

Image
To find out about my current giveaway click: Take Time to Enjoy the Little Things Good morning.  I trust you having a great day.  Today I am showing you the alternate card that I made at the same time that I made the "Thankful for All You Do" card.  That posted on September 12, 2012.  To see that original post with a video tutorial, click here . Since the inspiration to do this project came from Sandy Allnock, President of Operation Write Home and May Arts, I wanted to use her sketch.  The above sketch is from her.  I realize there are a lot of pieces to this sketch.  I added the "Grateful" over the top and moved the bling up into the corner.  This just worked better for me. Materials: K & CO "Americana" matstack Paper Trey Ink - Kraft cardstock Scrap of blue distress cardstock by Coordinations Want2Scrap - blue bling The Paper Studio - red ribbon Archival black ink Paper Trey Ink - "Count Your Blessings" stamp set and die...

Hello There Handsome - Tag and Gift Box

Image
For my current giveaway click :  Take Time to Enjoy the Little Things Today I have a special treat box for you.  If you've followed my blog for a while, you know that I enjoy giving little treats to my family.  When I do, I like to dress them up a bit.  It's one of the ways that I make the "little things" more special.  For today's treat I altered a (recycled) mushroom box and turned it into a treat box.  I then took a manilla tag and turned it into an extra special tag for my husband.  Of course, there had to be a bit of 3 Girl Jam ribbon in there too. Today's ribbon came from the Hot and Cold Pack.  These ribbons are so beautiful and perfect for my masculine project.  If you are interested in purchasing this bundle, click  here to go to the 3 Girl Jam store.  You should really check out the other bundles too. In the meanwhile, lets get started. I used papers from my scrap stash to cover the box.  I did not have a...

Thankful For All You Do

Image
For my current giveaway, please click: Take Time to Enjoy the Little Things As I sit to type this, September 11, 2012 is drawing to a close.  I am so thankful for the country that I live in.  I am thankful for those men and women who risk their lives to strive to keep us safe and free.  I am thankful for their families who sacrifice their loved one as they serve around the world.  I am also thankful for the local public servants who are the first responders in my community. As I was blog hopping this morning, I ran across Sandy Allnock's post on the May Arts blog.  She made a beautiful card and did a video tutorial.  In the video, she discussed how many people try to do a service for their local first responders.  I thought that was a fabulous idea and I wanted to join in on that challenge. It is easy for me to appreciate my local first responders because I know many of them personally.  I work with them often as they come into the ER....

Take Time to Enjoy the Little Things

Good morning everyone.  It's hard to believe that I have been blogging for over a year and a half.  In that time, I have had a lot of people follow me.  I appreciate each of you and pray that in some way, God will use me to be a blessing to you and bring you closer to Him. As has been evident over the last few weeks, I have a lot of things that I enjoy.  I love God, who has provided so many blessings in my life.  I love my amazing family.  My husband is my best friend, and I have 2 great kids. I love to read, but have actually spent more time in crafting pursuits since joining the blogging world.  I love spending time in my crafty space making fun little projects. So for all of you who have been following me for awhile, but not since the beginning, you may be wondering where in the world I came up with a name like DJ's Sundries.  For the original post on this please click here- What's in a Name? . Now over the past few weeks, I've been tryin...

Back to School Treat Boxes

Image
Now that we've learned how to appropriately use Tags, Bags, Boxes and More 2 (TBBM2), lets move on to a fun project.  If you live in the US and are on a traditional school schedule, your kids are back in school.  When we first began homeschooling our children, we started school at the same time as the schools in our area.  We also followed their holiday schedule as nearly as possible.  However, in the last few years, we have changed and waited until after Labor Day to start and have become a bit more flexible with our holiday scheduling as well. Since we have been at this for so long, and the kids are in high school, we don't have to buy as many school supplies.  However, who doesn't love new pencils. (OK so maybe I'm a little weird, but one of the little things I enjoy is a new set of pens, to do lists, pretty notebooks...)  They're not too interested in color crayons though.  I decided that I needed a fun way to give them a few little things and th...

How Do I Use Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More 2

Image
In this video, I show you some tips and tricks for using Tags, Bags, Boxes and More 2.  The video is a bit long.  I had some frustrations with the cartridge originally and hope this will help you avoid the same problems. Thanks for stopping by today.  See you soon.  In the meantime, Take time to enjoy the little things.

Hope

Good morning everyone.  Today I don't have a crafty post for you, but I wanted to post something from deep within my heart.  I have been thinking and praying about this topic and I feel it is something vital that needs to be shared.  The subject is HOPE. Do you ever have one of those days when everything feels hopeless?  Maybe there are more bills than money.  Maybe you have a rebellious child.  Maybe you or someone you love is having great health difficulties.  Perhaps you feel that no matter how hard you try, you just can't be good enough to please someone or most importantly to please God.  Your list goes on and on.  We live in a world where troubles abound.  The economy is bad and gas prices are rising.  Health care costs are huge.  Families are falling apart.  It just seems hopeless. Over time, people choose different ways to either find hope or to drown out hopelessness.  Some turn to alcohol or drugs while ...

Back to School Themed Card

Image
Good morning everyone.  Today is the first day of school for my kids.  My daughter is starting her Senior year and my son his Freshman.  My babies are definitely growing up.  I wanted to make a simple card to send with the altered chalkboards that I made last week for a swap at Craft Happens.  If you missed these, you can click here (altered chalk board). I used some of the paper left over from my project and added one of the nursery rhyme squares.  Easy!  The card base was cut at 4" X 8" and scored in the middle.  The black margin around the nursery rhyme square gives it a matted look.  Nothing else was required. Since the paper is double sided, it really didn't take much to finish the inside.  I cut a piece of Kraft cardstock from Paper Trey Ink that I found in my scraps.  I believe it was cut into a 3 3/4" square.  It was adhered down and then some postage stamps and a flashcard from the paper pack (An ABC Primer) ...

How Do I... Use Prismacolors?

Image
Welcome to another "How Do I?" segment.  Today I have something special for you.  Quite a while back (maybe even a year ago), I searched Ebay and finally purchased my first set of Prismacolor Verithin colored pencils.  Once I got them, I really didn't know how to use them to their full potential.  Despite my interest, they have mostly set on the shelf, sharpened and ready to go.  However, I recently discussed them with my cousin Erin.  She was kicking around the idea of making a Prismacolor series and I encouraged her to do so.  I told her that if she did, I would love to link them to my blog and that I would send you over to her's. Not only did she make the series, but she did it in several very well explained segments.  My original plan was to link one segment per week, but I have since decided to link them all in one place.  I am also going to go back and pick up an older video she made on coloring hair.  I know this is a lot of vid...
