You Take the Cake Birthday Card

Image
Today (7/31) is my mother-in-law's birthday.  I took her to the city the other day and we had a nice lunch at Red Lobster.  I then took her shopping at one of her favorite stores as she can't always make it to that store.  It was a nice day.  Tonight, we will get together with all of the family who is in town.  That's when I will give her present and card to her.  I thought I would make a card using "latte" in it as we both like our lattes.  However, as I was looking for the latte cup on my Imagine More Cards cartridge, I found the "You Take the Cake" image and decided to go with that instead.  I have discovered that I really like pink and brown when they are used together, so I decided to focus on those colors on the image and make this simple, but pretty card.  I wanted to make a 4"X4" card so I also ended up making my own envelope, but more on that later.  I mistakenly deleted the video, so this time you will just get the recipe....

Pulling Weeds

I had a pretty busy day today.  One of the things on my agenda was pulling some of the weeds that have grown in my front yard.  This is definitely not my favorite chore, but it needed to be done anyway.  While pulling those weeds, I made a couple observations: 1. The weeds did not start out being the big weeds they were now. 2. Most of the weeds grew where nothing else was growing. It didn't take me long to see some parallels to my own life.  Like weeds, sin is a big problem to me and to all of human kind.  Usually we don't commit the "big sins" all of a sudden.  Oh no, like those weeds they sneak up a little at a time.  Fear, pride, covetousness, selfishness, and rebellion all start as little seeds that continue to grow as they are watered.  Like my weeds that had begun where nothing else was growing and beginning to encroach on my lawn, sin finds empty soil delightful and then it spreads and spreads.  When my life is not filled with the ...

Guest Book - Part 1

Image
Nearly 20 years ago, Daniel and I were leaving our family in Colorado and were moving to Northern California.  As we were preparing to move, my mother-in-law gave me a guest book.  Many moves later, we still use this book.  Every once in a while, I like to go back through it to be reminded of the many people who have blessed our lives while being guests in our home.  I wanted to give a similar gift to a friend.  The following video is what I came up with.  Check back for the completion of the book in part 2.

Card Exchange Club - Female Birthday

Image
I tried two times to get a good video of these cards, but they were just too blurry.  It was time for an alternate plan, so here it is.  My friend and co-worker Crystal, recently began a card exchange club.  We each make 8 cards once a month and then we exchange them.  July's theme was "female birthday".  It was so much fun and the first time I have participated in something like this.  The ladies who participated are so talented and it is a privilege to be involved.  I will post a tutorial with my card, but I wanted to show you the cards made by the other ladies.

Altered Clipboard

Image
I was downloading the pictures from my camera tonight and found these pictures of a clipboard I altered.  This was a simple project that I made for my daughter.  She is on staff at a Christian camp and I slid this into her suitcase before she left for Junior camp on July 4. Clipboard Front

My Pink Stamper Design Team Challenge

Image
One of the first blogs I began following was My Pink Stamper.  Robyn is a talented lady.  A few weeks ago, she announced that she was going to looking for designers for the next 6 month term on her design team and I wanted to get in on that.  This is the first time I have ever entered a challenge and I'm really excited about it.  Of course there were some guidelines to follow.  We were to use the following colors: Orange Turquoise Green Brown and other optional color of our choice. We were also to use our favorite Cricut cartridge and post the recipe.  I love those colors, but have never attempted them all at once.  It was fun to stretch my mind a bit.  This is what I came up with:

Travel Log

Image
This is a mini journal, much like the others I have posted.  However, this one is made using a small composition notebook.  I hope this inspires you to start your own journal.

Banner

Image
Here is a banner I made for out church's Summer Bible Club.  I used the Cricut cartridge, "Life's a Beach" for all the cuts.  Each letter and shape was cut at 5 1/4".  I cut the squares for the banner approximately 6"X6" and mounted them on posterboard.  I hope this inspires you to make fun banners for your family.

Packaging Tags

In this video, I package up the tags I made for Erin.  I make a topper for them using the Cricut "Imagine More" cartridge and Imagine machine.
