2019 Christmas Tags with Aunt Cheri

Image
For the final video in the Christmas Tag Series, I created a special video for all my nieces and nephews.  I have a lot of nieces and nephews and I try to create at least one or two projects especially for them each year.  However to be perfectly honest, I think that adults will like this simple technique and it may even make you decide to never buy gift tags again... It's that simple but doesn't sacrifice charm for simplicity. Here's what you will need: Pre-made tags or material to make your own (cardstock, chipboard, file folders, cereal boxes, etc) Paper napkins with a small pattern or print White glue that will dry clear such as Elmer's school glue or Mod Podge Ribbon, yarn or some other string for your tops Ruler, scissors, pencil and hole punch The basic idea is to just use what you have.  If you have a die cutting machine, great.  If you don't have a die cutting machine, you can use a paper trimmer or just good old fashion scissors a...

2019 Christmas Tag #4 & A Giveaway

Image
Welcome to the 4th week of Christmas tags for 2019.  My goal for this series is 2-fold: 1. Create gorgeous tags for my loved ones 2. Use different techniques and supplies Today, I am highlighting one of my favorite mediums - watercolors!  I love using watercolors to enhance my cards and journals.  Now I'm pulling them out for the tags.  Don't let this item used by artists intimidate you.  I'm not an artist but I love the effect that I can achieve with them.  Watercolors are a great way to express your creativity no matter how much experience you have.  You don't have to buy expensive ones.  Just grab a set and start experimenting. Be sure to check out the video below for how these tags were made.  Don't forget the giveaway for your chance to win a set of of the tags from this series. Supplies: Koi Watercolors Poinsettia stamp from Blue Knight Rubber Stamps Red ribbon Strathmore watercolor paper Archival Distress B...

2019 Christmas Tag #3 & A Giveaway

Image
There are a few things that are a "must" at Christmas time and one of those things for me is the candy cane.  When my children were little,we would read The Legend of the Candy Cane at Christmas time.  It was one of 3 books that I loved to read every Christmas.  The book talks about the Candy Cane being a reminder of Jesus and of His death for you and me. Friend, do you know Jesus?  I hope you do. If you don't, reach out to me and I will be happy to share the Good News of Jesus and how He was born as a baby so that He could die for your sins and mine.  Wow!  How awesome is that? On this tag, I used a stencil and distress ink to form the candy cane background and a tiny Close to my Heart stamp for the tree.  I used Prisma colored pencils and gamsol to color in the tree. Supplies: CTMH White Daisy card stock CTMH gold glitter pen CTMH black ink CTMH mini Christmas tree stamp Festive Berries Distress Ink Tags, Bags, Boxes and ...

2019 Christmas Tag #1 & A Giveaway

Image
I love Christmas tags.  Last year, I was so busy that I bought those sticky tags to put on packages.  They did the job, but this year I wanted so much more.  I was inspired by Sandy Allnock's tag series to do some crafty tag making and I highly encourage you to go check out her 24 Tags of Christmas Videos.  She is so very talented. Let's dive into this week's tag.  There is a product list below that you might find helpful.  If you saw the "Getting Ready for Christmas" video in the previous post, you know that I am trying to use my stash for much of my Christmas crafting this year.  If you can't find a product listed below, be creative in your substitutions.  I am also including the cut file from the Cricut Design Space. The biggest tip I have for this tag is to use a new Cricut blade when cutting the glitter layer.  It is very intricate and tears easily. Supplies: Design Space Cut File - here Joys of the Season cartridge W...

Calm #7 Tag - Stencils

Image
I know that I have been talking about "calm" all year, but this month has shown that I need to continue to remain calm even more.  Why?  Because I'm heading back to school.  I began to make plans to return to school last February, but after looking into 3 different programs, those plans just weren't working out. After much thought and prayer, I decided now was not the right time.  I then added a new project to my plate and decided I needed to organize everything to be ready to go to school next spring. Imagine my surprise when I ran across an unopened letter on July 4 announcing that I had been accepted into the program that I had been previously denied.  I just need to be ready to start on August 22, the same day we begin our journey across the country to take our daughter to college.  Exciting?  Yes!  Feeling the need for calm?  Definitely!!! Here's what I needed: 3 Girl JAM ribbon - Cherry Lipstick , Ice Blue , and Aqua Splash O...

Calm #6 - Mixed Medium Tag: Embossing

Image
It's hard to believe that it is already half way through the year and that I have made my 6th "Calm" tag.  The theme for this month was "Embossing".  You could use heat embossing or embossing plates, so I decided to use both.  I really wanted the simple elegance of using all white, so I decided to make this pretty tag. Here's what I used: 3 Girl JAM Dress White ribbon (found here ) Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge (Pages 55 and 50) Cuttlebug "Geometric Rings" embossing folder Tim Holtz Embossing Diffuser Adirondack pearl paint dabber Versamark ink pad and marker Stampin' Up "Blue shell" embossing powder I walk you through the tag in the video below. "Heartfelt" Watercolor Tag

I really hope that you are not all getting tired of watercolor projects because I am having so much fun making them.  You should see some variety soon.  As I was waiting on another project to dry a bit, I decided that I wanted to use watercolor techniques to create this little tag for my husband.  It was made from a piece of left over Strathmore Watercolor Paper (90#) and Distress Inks.  Of course 3 Girl JAM ribbon finished it off beautifully.  It took just a few minutes to make and was the perfect compliment for a little "I love you" gift. Items used: 3 Girl JAM Aqua Splash and Dress White crinkle ribbons Strathmore Watercolor paper (90#) Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean Distress Inks Tim Holtz Heartfelt stamp set Sequins from Mainstays (Walmart brand) Tim Holtz tiny attatcher Memento Tuxedo Black ink Don't forget that there is still time to enter the "Anything Goes with Ribbon" challenge at 3 Girl JAM.  You could win some delicious 3GJ C...

Calm #4 Mixed Media Tags - Watercolor

Image
I have recently discovered that I like playing with watercolors.  It is fun and challenging.  I have so much to learn and am actually taking a couple of classes in using them.  This month's tag swap at Art and Sassy uses watercolors, so I was excited to get started.  Of course, lots of 3 Girl JAM goodies were the perfect compliment for all the watercolors. Summer sprinkles and gorgeous 3GJ lace were perfect for this first tag.  Other supplies will be listed below. This tag was also made with gorgeous 3 Girl JAM lace , but the bold, bright colors called for bold ribbon colors, so I used Cherry Lipstick and Sunflower. This final tag was made with more lace coupled with the Spooky bundle.  The muted colors remind me of a flower peering through a storm. Other supplies: Strathmore watercolor paper Fancy Pants "Lavender Leaves" paper Tim Holtz Cargo Stencil Studio Calico Huey's Mask Art Philosophy Tag #3 cut at 6.25" Ar...

Mixed Media "Calm" Tag #2

Image
At the beginning of the month, I saw a friend post a very good question on Facebook.  Did March come in like a lion or a lamb?  It's been a bit difficult to tell for sure with the odd weather that we've seen.   I don't know about you but I think its definitely time for some more "calm" in my daily activities.  In fact, this tag was posted on YouTube and the 3 Girl JAM blog more than a week ago and is just now being posted here.  This set of tags had to include metal of some kind and I wanted to throw in some alcohol inks.  Even though I wasn't using glossy paper, I felt like I needed to try these.  I used quite a few other products and tried some new-to-me techniques.  Throw in some gorgeous 3 Girl JAM crinkle ribbon - in this case  goblin green and iris   - and you are good to go.  Don't forget to use the discount code "CP10" when shopping at 3 Girl JAM for an extra little discount. This tag used quite a few supplies and I wi...

12 Days of Christmas Tags - Days 1-3

Image
Welcome to the 2013 edition of the 12 Days of Christmas Tags.  Because I like to give the final gift and tag on Christmas Eve, the first gift should have been given on the 13th.  This tradition of secret gift giving to a neighbor has been part of our Christmas for quite a while now.  The video explains how it got started and how it works.  I was not able to finish these in time to have an extra set to give away.  I hope that it will be better next year. Interested in this tradition for your family, but think its too late to join in?  Not crafty, but want to join in?  No problem.  Simply double up on a couple of days.  You can find the original tags by clicking here .  You don't even need to be crafty because the tags come ready to print if you prefer.  If you are interested, you can also go under the "Videos A-G" tab at the top of the page to see ones I have made in past years. To start today, I am using the Graphic 45 "1...
