2016 Christmas Card #1

Image
It feels like it's been forever since I posted a project.  Life has been so busy and I simply have not been able to catch up.  I was so excited to spend a little time in my crafty space on a relaxing Sunday afternoon between church services. How many Christmas cards do you typically send out?  Between what I hand deliver and what I mail, I easily need around 100 per year.  It's time to get started on them.  I did find a few very nice pre-printed ones that we used several years ago.  Though I plan to use some of those, I'm still going to need a bunch more.  I can now say that I have 6 done and ready!  Yeah!!!! I absolutely love the new "Oh Deer" collection from Close To My Heart.  The colors are fabulous but they are not traditional Christmas colors.  Here's what I used to make these: Oh Deer Paper Pack White and Gold Twine October Stamp of the Month - Yuletide Joy White Daisy Card Bases Sea Glass Cardstock Versamark ink pad...

Confetti Wishes Card

Image
Top-o-the- morning to you.  I trust you are having a great day.  I wanted to share this card that I designed using the Confetti Wishes paper pack from Close to my Heart.  This is one of the bonus cards available in my workshop clubs.  This was so fun to make and I think it may have been everyone's favorite. I used 2 different techniques on the background paper - tone-on-tone and heat embossing.  Though I don't have Close to my Heart embossing tools or powders or gold shimmer tape, you can find them at my Close to my Heart store here .  I also used the following: Confetti Wishes paper Lagoon cardstock and Ink pad White Daisy cardstock Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge Lovely Birthday stamp set Have you thought about joining a club?  I think you will be glad you did. Calm #7 Tag - Stencils

Image
I know that I have been talking about "calm" all year, but this month has shown that I need to continue to remain calm even more.  Why?  Because I'm heading back to school.  I began to make plans to return to school last February, but after looking into 3 different programs, those plans just weren't working out. After much thought and prayer, I decided now was not the right time.  I then added a new project to my plate and decided I needed to organize everything to be ready to go to school next spring. Imagine my surprise when I ran across an unopened letter on July 4 announcing that I had been accepted into the program that I had been previously denied.  I just need to be ready to start on August 22, the same day we begin our journey across the country to take our daughter to college.  Exciting?  Yes!  Feeling the need for calm?  Definitely!!! Here's what I needed: 3 Girl JAM ribbon - Cherry Lipstick , Ice Blue , and Aqua Splash O...

Calm #6 - Mixed Medium Tag: Embossing

Image
It's hard to believe that it is already half way through the year and that I have made my 6th "Calm" tag.  The theme for this month was "Embossing".  You could use heat embossing or embossing plates, so I decided to use both.  I really wanted the simple elegance of using all white, so I decided to make this pretty tag. Here's what I used: 3 Girl JAM Dress White ribbon (found here ) Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge (Pages 55 and 50) Cuttlebug "Geometric Rings" embossing folder Tim Holtz Embossing Diffuser Adirondack pearl paint dabber Versamark ink pad and marker Stampin' Up "Blue shell" embossing powder I walk you through the tag in the video below. Treat Bags

Image
Who doesn't enjoy getting a surprise treat?  I know that I do and I bet you might too.  Today, I want to share 2 little treat bags that I made. The first one was made from a little paper bag that I purchased from Hobby Lobby.  I love the purple chevron and just knew that I needed to make something with it.  The stamps were from a cute little hostess stamp set that will be retiring at the end of July.  When I saw it, I knew I wanted it.  Can you guess why?  If you are interested in hostessing a gathering so that you could earn this set, I will be happy to set one up for you.  Just email me at djssundries@gmail.com for more information. Other supplies: Gold glitter tape from American Crafts Gold sequins by Mainstays (Walmart) White and purple cardstock scraps Smokey Plum Exclusive Ink Pad (found here ) Foam tape The second little bag is completely different. Here's what I used: Ruby Exclusives Ink pad (found here ) Kaboom Stam...

Close To My Heart Thursday - Timberline Love Card

Image
I wanted to make a special card for my husband when the inspiration for this card came to me.  I wasn't sure what I was going to make when my eyes fell on a scrap from the Timberline Collection from Close To My Heart.  The piece was a cut I had made from the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge from another project.  I had also been working on the Lollydoodle Cardmaker's Workshop on the Go and found the perfect stamp set.  Unfortunately, this stamp set is currently only available if you purchase the workshop, but I must say that it is a great kit.  As it ended up, all the paper for this card was from my scraps or old Cricut cuts.  Woo Hoo!  I love using up my leftovers. Close to my Heart Supplies Used: Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge Timberline Paper Pack Lagoon Exclusives Cardstock Lagoon Exclusive Ink Slate Exclusive Ink Lollydoodle Card Maker's Workshop on the Go (I only used the stamp set) Durables Triangle Studs Other products used: W...

Mini Message Boards

Image
Good morning.  I hope you are having a wonderful day and enjoyed a good weekend.  I was so inspired by Scrappin' Abby's Memo Board last week that I wanted to make some of my own.  I decided to use some great 3 Girl JAM ribbon to make them just my style. The new Flair and Flower Bundle were just what I needed to make my little boards.  All I had to do was add some extra ribbon from the new Tie Dye 1 and Tie Dye 2 bundles to make them perfect for my treasures. I started out by purchasing some cork tiles from my local Joann's store.  These were 12 inch tiles, but I wanted circles. So I set up the Art Philosophy cartridge to cut a circle to use as a pattern.  Using fit-to-page, I was able to create a pattern to use to cut my circles.  I then took some muslin to cover the cork by using hot glue to adhere it to the back.  Next came the fabulous flower ribbon for decoration and a hanger.  I decided to do each one a little differen...

Calm #4 Mixed Media Tags - Watercolor

Image
I have recently discovered that I like playing with watercolors.  It is fun and challenging.  I have so much to learn and am actually taking a couple of classes in using them.  This month's tag swap at Art and Sassy uses watercolors, so I was excited to get started.  Of course, lots of 3 Girl JAM goodies were the perfect compliment for all the watercolors. Summer sprinkles and gorgeous 3GJ lace were perfect for this first tag.  Other supplies will be listed below. This tag was also made with gorgeous 3 Girl JAM lace , but the bold, bright colors called for bold ribbon colors, so I used Cherry Lipstick and Sunflower. This final tag was made with more lace coupled with the Spooky bundle.  The muted colors remind me of a flower peering through a storm. Other supplies: Strathmore watercolor paper Fancy Pants "Lavender Leaves" paper Tim Holtz Cargo Stencil Studio Calico Huey's Mask Art Philosophy Tag #3 cut at 6.25" Ar...

Sparkly Chevron Birthday Card

Image
Top of the morning everyone.  I trust you are having a great day.  I have a super fun project that was inspired by Jennifer McGuire.  You can see her original video by clicking here .  My daughter really likes teal and brown and she also likes chevrons.  She recently celebrated her 19th birthday so I decided I would use teal along with the brand new LG bundle from 3 Girl JAM to create a sparkly fun birthday card for her.  I used silver to replace the brown. The video will walk you through the glitter techniques as well as the card making process, so I am just going to list the supplies I used here: Cricut Close to my Heart Art Philosophy cartridge and stamp set bundle Teal and Grey cardstock from my stash Paper Trey Ink white cardstock (card base) Perfect medium and Pewter Perfect Pearls Silver Glitter from EK Success Teal glitter from a scrapbooking store (? brand) 9" Xyron Heidi Swapp Chevron stencil ATG and foam tape LG Bundle from 3 Girl...

Good morning everyone.  It is once again time to make a mixed media tag for a swap at Art & Sassy.  The theme for this month's tag was "doodling" and it was definitely a stretch for me.  I am not much of a doodler so I was quite nervous to implement this into a tag.  It ended up being fun to do. Mixed Media "Calm" Tag #2

Image
At the beginning of the month, I saw a friend post a very good question on Facebook.  Did March come in like a lion or a lamb?  It's been a bit difficult to tell for sure with the odd weather that we've seen.   I don't know about you but I think its definitely time for some more "calm" in my daily activities.  In fact, this tag was posted on YouTube and the 3 Girl JAM blog more than a week ago and is just now being posted here.  This set of tags had to include metal of some kind and I wanted to throw in some alcohol inks.  Even though I wasn't using glossy paper, I felt like I needed to try these.  I used quite a few other products and tried some new-to-me techniques.  Throw in some gorgeous 3 Girl JAM crinkle ribbon - in this case  goblin green and iris   - and you are good to go.  Don't forget to use the discount code "CP10" when shopping at 3 Girl JAM for an extra little discount. This tag used quite a few supplies and I wi...

Green and Yellow Encouragement Card and Notebook

Image
Do you know what time it is?  It's time for a brand new Challenge on the 3 Girl JAM Challenge blog and we really hope you will play along.  March is one of my favorite months of the year.  It is the month of both of my children's births as well as mine.  It is also the month where I feel like new beginnings are starting after the long, cold months of winter.  This month's challenge celebrates that by encouraging you to use gorgeous colors - yellow, green, and orange.  Does anything celebrate the beginning of new life better than a daffodil as it peeks it's yellow head bravely through the snow?  How about those first sprigs of green grass or orange wildflowers?  You can choose any combination of the 3 colors and add some ribbon for this challenge. For my projects I used green and yellow.  Goblin Green and Sunflower 3 Girl JAM ribbon worked perfectly to make them really pop.  If you would like some of your own ribbon, click on the...

Embossing with a Cricut

Image
Today I have a technique video to share with you.  I originally saw this technique from this video on YouTube. I then took it and changed it a bit. There really isn't a project to go with it but watch for a couple of projects using the pieces I created while trying out this new technique. Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember to take the time to enjoy the little things.

I know that Valentine's Day is over but there's always room to spread a little more love, right?  That's exactly what I'm going to do.  A touch of 3 Girl JAM Merlot crinkle ribbon was the perfect accent for the pretty hearts and my current favorite "love" paper.  Supplies: 3 Girl JAM Merlot Crinkle Ribbon (Don't forget to use the code "CP10" to receive a discount on your 3 Girl JAM orders) Fancy Pants Love Note 6X6 paper pad June Berry smooth cardstock by Core'dinations  It's Valentine's stamp set from K.
