"Calm" Tag

Good morning everyone.  I have a tag to share with you today and it comes with a bit of a story.  One day I was reading a friend's blog - Proverbs for Life - when I learned of the concept of choosing a word of the year.  Soon after reading the post, I felt like the word I needed to focus on this year is "calm".  Why?

Like many of you, life in my house is busy.  4 family members = 4 (or more) jobs.  Add youth group, classes, and Rugby and some days we are hopping.  Being an RN with a full-time job in an ER, the word "calm" rarely is a description of my work life either. Being calm doesn't happen.  It's something that has to be focused on to achieve.

Some days, I have to focus on calmness by being still and really listening to God.  Other days being calm means staying out of the craft room and spending time with family instead of focusing on projects for deadlines.  Some days it means that I need to sleep a little extra, while other times it means I need to clean a particular area in my house. Whatever the situation, being calm brings rewards and this tag focuses on that feeling.

Have you tried the new lace in the 3 Girl JAM store?  It comes in 2 different varieties and is so pretty that I had to use some from the Light and Bright pack on these tags.  I also used some Sterling from the Celebrations pack.  A few different techniques were used to create layers on this tag.  Layering can add so much dimension without bulking up a project.

Other products used:
Grunge Paper
Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge
Folk Art Warm White acrylic paint mixed with Broken China Distress stain (Layer 1)
Versamark ink, clear embossing powder and Inque Boutique "Monarch" stamp set (Layer 2)
Broken China and Pumice Stone distress inks (Layer 3)
Homemade Perfect Pearls Spray (Layer4)
Embellishments - Label made using Spellbinders Labels 5 dye, DCWV Linen Closet matstack, Gold bop stickers from my stash, butterfly from Trees to Treasures,  eyelash trim, crystal Stickles, Petaloo feathers and 3 Girl JAM lace, and Sterling crinkle ribbon,
Have you checked out the new challenge over on the 3GJ Challenge Blog?  Things I Love is the theme and you should come and play along.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember to take some time to enjoy the little things.
